Biography

"I am one with my violin, one with my music"

ANNA KATHARINA, unlike most other teenagers, has grown up with serious music. Her overnight success started with the "Jugend musiziert" ("Young Music Makers") competition, which she won 8 times. In more than 20 years of violin, flute, piano and singing lessons, this artist from Munich has learned to love the genius that lies within beautiful melodies and harmonies. This is thanks to her professors at the Richard-Strauß-Konservatorium in Munich, the conservatories in Saarbrücken (Ulrike Dierick) and Würzburg (Max Speermann) as well as master classes in Salzburg (Helmut Zehetmaier) and Warsaw (Piotr Reichert). She has also, of course, benefitted from playing in orchestras alongside great musicians such as Maxim Vengerov, Max Pommer and Michael Niesemann.

This great violinist has been playing with the folk-rock band SCHANDMAUL since 1998, one of the most successful German bands, who have sold more than 400.000 records, had various top ten hits including an ECHO nomination in 2009 and sold-out concert tours.

With her fist solo CD, "Neuland", in 2007, ANNA KATHARINA has earned herself praise from critics and standing ovations from the audience: Together with drumming legend Curt Cress (Freddy Mercury, Tina Turner, Klaus Doldingers Passport, Udo Lindenberg etc.) and the two SCHANDMAUL musicians, Matthias Richter (bass) and Thomas Lindner (production), she has been able to realize what she set out to achieve in a charming manner: to free her music, classical music, from the dust of centuries.

With her new creation, "Saitensprung", ANNA KATHARINA continues ambitiously on this quest with creative ease and effortless skill. Supported by the two musicians, Specki T.D (drums and percussion) and Michael Ende (bass), both from LETZTEN INSTANZ, and the renowned producer Günther Gebauer, she achieves her dream of producing, "old music with contemporary ways". Here too, as with the previous album "Neuland", her own compositions are blended with newly arranged classics to form a furious mix of classical music, rock, pop, jazz and folk.
